B i o g r a p h y

Jackson Roberson is a classical guitarist currently based in Columbia, South Carolina. As an active performer and teacher, he strives to bring the classical guitar to new audiences.

Jackson was born in Union City, Tennessee and raised in rural Nebraska. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance and earned a Master of Music from the University of Memphis, where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Jackson is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of South Carolina and working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Guitar department.

A competition prize winner, Jackson's performances have been broadcast on PBS television in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas and on PBS radio in Nebraska and Iowa. He has also been invited to perform as a guest artist at events hosted by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and others. 

Jackson frequently performed for charity as a volunteer musician in the Sound Health program in Omaha. This program brings classical music performances to patients and doctors at The Children's Hospital and other hospitals in the Omaha area. Outside of the classical world, Jackson has also performed in the pit orchestra for musicals and in bluegrass and heavy metal groups. 

Jackson Roberson's primary teachers are Christopher Berg, Lily Afshar, and Hadley Heavin. He has also studied in lessons and masterclasses with guitarists such as Bill Kanengiser, Andrea Dieci, Jonathan Leathwood, Isaac Bustos, Virginia Luque, Daniel Bolshoy, Douglas Niedt, Nicholas Ciraldo, Iliana Matos, Heike Matthiesen, Luther Enloe, Daniel Wolf, and others.

Jackson currently teaches guitar as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of South Carolina, along with teaching private guitar lessons in the Columbia area. He also taught Music Theory and Aural Skills at the University of Memphis and served as the President of The University of Memphis Classical Guitar Society.
